I was born in Wallasey, England, near Liverpool, and after a brief stint in London, I settled in Brighton, where I spent the last six years of my life in the UK.
During that time, my mother and sister visited me and playfully noted how I had started adopting the Southern British accent, with its softer 'a' and 'u' sounds, compared to the Northern pronunciation. I hadn’t realized this was happening, but it made me more aware of my own voice and the unique ways others communicate. I found the nuances of speech and dialect to be endlessly fascinating. I believe that this planted a seed which would bloom later on.
After travelling around the United States, I eventually made my way to Los Angeles. I kicked off a successful but ultimately unfulfilling corporate I.T. career. After experiencing several layoffs due to the outsourcing trend, I took a step back and spent three months in the UK, contemplating my true passions.
During that time, I discovered an ad for a voice assessment at Edge Studio, and I knew I had to check it out. Hearing myself recorded professionally for the first time was transformative; it ignited a fire in me and started assuaging a need for a creative outlet I had let dwindle.
I jumped in and voiced gaming mods for friends, an advertisement for a password manager company, and a few very short audiobooks before zeroing in on full-length audiobooks. Life threw its challenges my way, and I had to pause my voice work for a while.
However, I was reinvigorated by SoundBooth Theater, where I participated in my first ensemble cast productions. Now I’m back and more determined than ever. My ultimate goal is to secure roles in computer games, as I am a passionate gamer who loves storytelling in all its forms.
